Who We Are?

We are a non-profit, all volunteer, group of swing dance fanatics who perform and teach swing dance at a variety of events.

Our Mission

To present and promote swing dance, and the Savoy Swing Club to the community. We also like to just have fun dancing!

History of the Performance Troupe

The "Savoy Swing Club Performance Troupe" is the first swing dance performance group from the Pacific Northwest. It was created in 1993 along with the founding of its parent organization, the Savoy Swing Club -- a Seattle-based non-profit dedicated to preserving swing dances from yesteryear. In fact, during its infancy when membership in the club numbered less than 25, every club member was considered a member of the Performance Troupe.

Our first performance occurred on April 17, 1993, prior to the adoption of the Savoy Swing Club name. We were introduced as "the Seattle-area Lindy Hoppers." We performed a jazz routine to the song Flying Home in front of Frankie Manning at a Living Traditions dance. The first official performance with our current name was October 2, 1993 at the Everett Mall for a KIXI Radio event.

As the club grew, we needed to manage rehearsals better and concentrate on improving the dancers' performance skills. Auditions were held for the first time on March 18, 1994 and have occurred annually since. Many of the best Lindy Hoppers and teachers in and around Seattle have at one time or another been part of the SSCPT.

As of March 2005, the troupe has had 235 performances and appearances all along the west coast from Vancouver, British Columbia to Catalina Island, California.

In 1999, the troupe competed for the first time at the prestigious U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships in southern California. Performing their "Sing, Sing, Sing" routine, the troupe garnered an impressive third place finish as well as being the highest placing Lindy Hop team in the 17 year history of the U.S. Open!!
